About City
Prague being a habitation to a number of important and famous cultural interests, many of the states has survived the violence and carnage of 20th-century Europe. Main attractions include the Charles Bridge, the Jewish Quarter, and Prague Castle, Old Town Square with the Prague astronomical clock, Petron hill and Vyšehrad. Since 1992, the comprehensive historic centre of Prague has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
It was a paramount city to the Habsburg Monarchy and its Austro-Hungarian Empire. The city played major roles in the Bohemian and Protestant Reformation, the Thirty Years' War and in 20th-century history as the capital of Czechoslovakia, during both World Wars and the post-war Communist era.
Snow cover is common between mid-November and late March although snow coverings of more than 20 cm (8 in) are sporadic. There are also a few periods of mild temperatures in winter. Summers usually bring plenty of sunshine and the average high temperature of 24 °C (75 °F). Night time can generally be quite cool even in summers. Since Prague is located in the rain shadow of the Sudetes and other mountain ranges precipitation in Prague has rather lowered to just over 500 mm [20 in] per year. Winter is usually the driest season while late spring and summer comes in with quite heavy rain, mainly in the form of thundershowers.Temperature reversal are relatively common between mid-October and mid-March bringing foggy, cold days and sometimes moderate air pollution.
