Ischemia and Ischemic Heart Disease

Ischemia is a condition in which the blood flow is reduced in a part of the body. The term used for the heart problems caused by narrowed heart arteries and  for decreased blood flow, oxygen to the heart muscle known as Cardiac Ischemia,  such  that the less blood and oxygen reaches the heart muscle.

This is also called coronary artery disease and coronary heart disease which ultimately lead to heart attack. In the other conditions, Ischemia often causes chest pain or discomfort known as angina pectoris.
